Join Beaverworx
No prior experience needed. Whether you're into building, coding, design, media, or organizing, there's a subteam for you.
Beaverworx is a program with more than one way in: FRC Team 2609, rookie FTC Teams 38290 KitBotz and 38291 Moose on the Loose, and an after-school Robotics Course for academic credit. Members work hands-on all season, designing and building robots, writing the code that drives them, documenting the process, and running outreach, while learning from teachers, volunteers, industry mentors, and each other. One application covers all three teams; the Robotics Course is enrolled in through your school's guidance office.
Ways to take part
Beaverworx's teams compete separately but share mentors, facilities, and resources, so wherever you start, you're part of the same program.

FRC Team 2609
Beaverworx's original team, competing since 2008. Members build a full-size, 120-pound robot each season and compete at district events and beyond, with the scale and pace of a real engineering project.

FTC Teams 38290 & 38291
KitBotz and Moose on the Loose are rookie teams starting their first season in 2026–2027. Smaller, kit-based robots mean every member gets hands-on with design, build, and code from day one.
About the FTC teams - Academic credit
Robotics Course
A free after-school course where Grade 9 to 12 students earn their compulsory technology credit through FTC and FRC learning. It's connected to the teams, and students can take part in both.

What to expect as a new member
No prior experience is needed. Most members start out never having used CAD, written code, or built a robot, and the program is set up to teach exactly that.

Getting started
You'll be introduced to the program, the people, and the space, starting with safety: how the shop works and how to use tools and equipment properly.

Learning by doing
Mentors and experienced students teach the fundamentals as you go, whether that's CAD, fabrication, wiring, programming, media, or outreach. Nobody is expected to know it all on day one.

Being part of a team
You'll work as a member of one of the Beaverworx teams, contributing to its robot and its season, with room to take on more responsibility and leadership as you grow.

Competing
Teams take their robots to official FIRST events, where members see their work on the field and meet students from teams across Ontario and beyond.
